A Tale of Nine Centuries: the story and spirituality of the Le Chéile Schools Trust, co-authored by Sr Una Collins, a Holy Faith sister, and Sean Goan has just been published by Columba Press. The Trust was launched in 2010 when twelve small religious congregations, including the Holy Faith congregation, collaborated to ensure the future of the secondary schools which they had formerly run but could no longer sustain. Fourteen schools make up the Trust serving almost 29,000 students.
A Tale of Nine Centuries features a chapter on each of the religious congregations showing how they applied their respective charisms to the educational challenges of the period. Additional chapters provide the historical context for developments in Irish, English and French education. The Trust is firmly established in the Catholic tradition and the last chapter of the book considers how this identity and commitment might continue as a living reality.
