The Feast of St. Brigid, 1st February 2024, was the backdrop for the 10th Anniversary of the Margaret Aylward Centre for Faith and Dialogue. The event was celebrated with events and activities fitting for such a celebration. An inter-generational gathering of students from Glasnevin and St. Michael’s School Finglas met with some women closely associated with the centre in the making, weaving and blessing of St Brigid’s Crosses. To see these eager young people and mentors working together, many for the first time, on such a project was inspiring. Wonderful to see the students eager to bring these crosses home to their families.
The evening celebration was so happy as befits such an event. A reception was held to introduce the evening. Dympna Mallon, the director gave an inspiring welcome followed by Brenda Quinn outlining the history and highlighting events and sharing the vision for the future. Geraldine Farrell was the force behind a wonderful video of the 10 years in the life of the Margaret Aylward Centre which was greatly appreciated by all.
The evening ended with a reception where all the invited guests chatted, circulated and shared memories of the past and hopes for the future. Thanks to the organizers and all who are involved in the centre’s life.
