Celebrating Laudato Si’ Week: A Reflection on Creation’s Beauty

As we step into Laudato Si’ Week (24 – 31 May 2025), we take a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the gift of creation that surrounds us. Here on the grounds of the Holy Faith Sisters, nature is in full bloom – vivid flowers, rich in colour and fragrance, remind us of the intricate beauty woven into God’s creation. The gardens of Glasnevin have seen decades of quiet dedication and transformation by people and moments that shaped its beauty.

Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’, calls us to see the Earth as our common home, one that we are entrusted to cherish and protect. The flourishing flowers before us are more than a display of natural beauty; they are signs of hope, renewal, and God’s presence in the living world. They remind us that every petal, every leaf, and every sunrise is an invitation to deeper gratitude and care for our planet.

As we celebrate this week, let us embrace the call to ecological conversion, honouring the Earth through prayer, action, and mindful stewardship. May the blossoming flowers be a symbol of our own commitment – to nurture and protect the wonders entrusted to us for future generations.
