On Wednesday, 7th October, the Irish Regional Team held a missioning ceremony on behalf of all in the region to surround Sr Jacinta Prunty with blessings on her way to South Sudan.
This short, simple ceremony (socially distanced!) took place in the chapel in Clare Road. The prayers expressed gratitude for Jacinta’s courage and generosity in choosing to minister in one of the poorest countries in the world, South Sudan. Her presence in Yambio Teacher Training College will contribute to the community and the college life.
On Sunday, 11th October, Margaret Aylward’s feast day, Jacinta’s community in the Coombe marked her departure for Yambio with lunch and a prayer service. All members of the community were actively involved in the beautiful and moving celebration. Those of us who were guests were heartened and encouraged by the whole experience.
