Auckland Parish Celebrates Consecrated Life

The parish of St Pius X, Glen Innes in Auckland, New Zealand celebrated the Year of Consecrated Life at the 10.00 am Mass on Sunday, 17th May, the feast of the Ascension. There are large Tongan and Samoan communities in the parish.

During Mass the seven sisters associated with the parish renewed their vows for their particular congregation.   There are three Sisters of Mercy, one Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Nazareth and three Holy Faith Sisters. The Holy Faiths operated the parish primary school for many years.

After Mass everyone enjoyed a cup of tea/coffee in the parish hall.     Most parishioners commented on the fact that they had never heard Sisters pronouncing their vows, and they found it a very moving experience.
