South Sudan: Training Teachers for Peace

Recent news from Sr. Jacinta Prunty who is working with Solidarity with South Sudan in the Teacher Training College in Yambio. Jacinta’s sister, Dr Therese McPhillips of St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra (DCU) arrived on 29th December 2021, for one month.

Jacinta explains “she will teach all the students in the first week (‘English across the curriculum’ – a training week). Then the following week she will do a similar programme with the STTC tutors and other tutors from outside, and anyone else we know who is involved in teacher training here in South Sudan. Then the third week she will work with the staff on the new curriculum materials – I can say for sure, the time will fly”

The photographs really say it all! You can also watch several really interesting short videos on all aspects of the work of Solidarity with South Sudan. They are a nice example of collaboration in action.
